Enterprise customers can have one Edge or more Edges provided by Enterprise Administrators.
The steps below will help you make a new Edge.
Procedure
- Proceed to Configure > Edges in the Enterprise portal.
- Press the New Edge button located in the upper-right corner of the Edges screen.
The dialog box labeled Provision New Edge opens.
- Type a unique name for the Edge in the Name text box.
- Pick an Edge model from the Model drop-down box.
- Choose a name to link to the Edge from the drop-down menu next to name.
When a freshly assigned Edge sees an option for an Edge Staging Profile in Zero Touch Provisioning, it means the profile has not been configured with a production profile yet.
You have the ability to choose one of the following certificate-based authentication alternatives from the drop-down menu located in the Authentication section:
- Certificate Not Required – Edge uses a pre-shared key way of authentication, so you don’t need a certificate.
- Certificate Acquire – The Edge is instructed to acquire a certificate from the certificate authority of the Orchestrator by generating a key pair and sending a certificate signing request to the Orchestrator. This option is selected by default and is referred to as the Certificate Acquire option. After it has been obtained, the certificate is utilized by the Edge for the purpose of authenticating itself to the Orchestrator and for the construction of VCMP tunnels.
The choice can be changed to “Certificate Required” once the certificate is obtained.
