ArubaOS 8 – Valuable CLI Commands
In the context of Aruba Instant Access Points and Wireless Gateways / Controllers, ArubaOS (AOS) serves as the wireless LAN operating system. In AOS 8, the following commands can be used on a Mobility Controller (or a managed device, overseen by a Mobility Master) to assist in resolving different issues encountered with Access Points or Wi-Fi stations/client.
These commands must be invoked directly on the controller, not through the Mobility Master. Access the controller by using the mdc command from the Mobility Master (MM) CLI. Initially, navigate to the controller node-level using the command cd /md/node-hierarchy-path to operate within the framework of a specific managed node, such as a controller, gateway, or managed device. The method described is preferable and recommended over initiating a direct SSH session with the single controller. [
Review with below command the ap-debug statistics for a specific Access Point (AP). Query Heartbeats, Interface counts, ARP cache Interface information, AP uptime, Ethernet Duplex/Speed, and LMS information.
show ap debug system-status ap ap-name <ap-name>
Monitor with below command for a significant frequency of reboots or bootstraps (occurring when the GRE keep-alive is not executed).
show ap debug counters ap-name <ap-name>
It would be advisable to review the AP system Profile for the “Bootstrap Threshold”. The existing default value is 8. Let’s say if it is not specified in the configuration, then its value will be 8.
